This week we will cover the very basics of Hungarian conversations, mainly greetings like Mizu?

Informal greetings all mean hi or hello and can be used as goodbyes too:
Szia! - when you greet one person
Sziasztok! - when you greet several people
Helló! - general
Formal greetings for older or respected people, strangers:
Jó reggelt! - Good morning!
Jó napot! - Good afternoon! literally: Good day.
Jó estét! - Good evening!
Viszlát! - Bye!
Viszontlátásra! - Goodbye! literally: To see you again.
How informal greetings go:
Szia! Hogy vagy?* / Mizu? / Mi újság?
Hi, how are you? What's up? / What's new?
*"gy" is quite a tricky sound to pronounce because this is a unique letter in the Hungarian alphabet. Check me out trying to pronounce these short terms here.
How greetings evolved?
Mi újság? → Mizujs? → Mizu?
They all mean the same thing but the shorter the version is the more informal it is!
How to introduce yourself in Hungarian:
A nevem... (XY). - My name is...
(XY)... vagyok. - I'm...
